Phnom Penh Gets Firsthand Look at Luxury Weddings

[FTN NEWS]

The party is coming to town for those planning their “I do’s” in the Cambodian capital.

The Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra is connecting the city’s couples to the region’s most sought-after purveyors of panache in a four-day ‘Luxury Wedding Fair,’ to be held at the hotel from June 2-5. The fair will celebrate the art of weddings with workshops, one-on-one consultations and displays by local and regional creators.

The event marks the first luxury international wedding exhibition in Cambodia and is proof of the country’s growing appeal as a romance destination. Some of the most reputable names in the wedding industry--including Malaysian company The Wedding Planners, and couture wedding collection designers La Flaire—collaborated with the Sofitel for the event.

“The wedding fair in June will be something new for Phnom Penh in terms of scale and attraction,” said Didier Lamoot, the hotel’s general manager. “For the first time, couples in the city will easily have their pick of creative ideas from the cream of local and international vendors. They’ll see how the Sofitel celebrates weddings and experience its second-to-none service. On the last day of the fair, the hotel’s grand ballroom, gardens and poolside will be in full bloom with lots of fun activities.”

The fair is open to the public on June 5th, when the Sofitel grounds will be adorned in La Flaire signature themes, such as Oriental Chic and Summer Breeze, while cake decoration demonstrations, models in designer gowns and classical band strollers will entertain the crowd. Displays will be set up and vendors on hand for consultation with prospective brides and grooms.

Aside from wedding design, the fair will also showcase themes for corporate events and parties.
The Luxury Wedding fair officially begins with a press conference on June 2nd, wedding workshops for participating vendors on June 3rd, and opening ceremonies for invited guests on June 4th.
