South Korean bakery franchise Tous Les Jours is set to make its debut in
the Kingdom next year, after locally based CBM Corporation signed a
royalty deal last week.
The deal, signed by CBM and the bakery’s
operator, CJ Foodville, last Thursday, allows the Cambodian company
franchise rights to Tous Les Jours. “We will offer high-quality products
and the growing demand for such products is evident in the country,”
CBM general director Chy Sila said, adding that he expects Cambodian
customers to comprise 80 per cent of the clientele.
CBM is set
to open three Tous Les Jour units in Phnom Penh before the close of
2012, with the first launching in the second quarter. The estimated
investment in its first flagship store will be about US$500,000,
according to Chy Sila.
Officials at Blue Pumpkin said they were
not concerned about the latest market entrant. “If Tous Les Jour is
focusing on Phnom Penh, it won’t be a problem because we only have two
shops based there. We focus more on other areas of the country [such as
Siem Reap],” Marketing Manager Theresa Bangcawayan said this week.
