The Cambodian industrial sector has been growing dramatically and it has shared over 30 percent of the country’s GDP, Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy H.E. Suy Sem said yesterday.

Speaking at the LYLY Food Industry’s factory inauguration, H.E. Suy Sem said the industrial sector shared 30 percent of the GDP, up 6 percent if compared with the past 18 years. It generated some 500,000 jobs, while in Phnom Penh alone; there are 1,974 small and medium enterprises, he added.

“It is one of the major sectors in generating jobs to Cambodian people,” he said.

Ms. Keo Mom, CEO of LYLY Food Industry Co., Ltd. said stability, security, human capacity building are the opportunity for the growth and competition, especially when Cambodia integrates its trade to ASEAN by 2015.

LYLY started its business in 2002 with only 20 workers; but in 2011 it has in total 200 workers, and expects to provide more jobs and increase its production, she said.
