[PHNOM PENH POST]
STOCK exchange officials were conducting a five-day workshop on the IT
system that will allow trading, Securities and Exchange Commission of
Cambodia director-general Ming Bankosal said yesterday.
The
workshop, held in conjunction with the Cambodia Securities Exchange,
would also seek feedback on the system’s functionality as well as
providing training, he said.
“We invited participants to the
workshop to offer additional knowledge of the system … particularly the
process of trading [buying and selling securities],” Ming Bankosal
said.
“It’s important to get feedback from market members on whether it will have errors or worth smoothly.”
The
IT system that will run CSX trading was now complete, although it
required connect-ions from the firms approved to trade, Ming Bankosal
said.
The workshop, slated to run until Friday, is being
attended primarily by representatives of firms that are acting as
brokers, dealers, or underwriters on the exchange.
The Cambodia Securities Exchange launched in July with no listed companies.
ACLEDA
Securities CEO Svay Hay said the workshop was important for firms
conducting trades through the CSX once companies listed.
“This is crucial for both operators and members to understand the electronic process connection with the CSX.
“It will make it easy to connect to other securities dealers,” Svay Hay said.
It was vital that ACLEDA’s IT systems could easily connect with the exchange, he said.
