Land pricing: Valuers to meet in Siem Reap

[PHNOM PENH POST]

The ASEAN Valuers Association will today convene its first meeting in Cambodia on real-estate valuation, which experts say ought to improve the industry.

The three-day event, in Siem Reap, was the first time the  ASEAN association had held an event in Cambodia since the country’s association joined in 2009,  National Valuers Association of Cambodia president Sung Bonna said yesterday.

“The AVA wants to hold the event in Cambodia because it is interested in the development of the real-estate market here and the country offers a new frontier for developers to look for investment,” he said.

The ASEAN association convened the congress every two years with the aim of exchanging views and experience,    Sung Bonna said.

“I think this is a good change, and it’s very important for our country to share its experience and gain new knowledge in real-estate valuation in order  to reach an international    standard in property valuation.”

Cambodia had relatively little experience in valuing real estate, but other ASEAN countries had sent their experts to provide training at an international standard for next year, Sung Bonna said.
